Body image is something we all struggle with… looking in the mirror can make us want to close our eyes…even more so the older we get. Things start sagging, metabolism slows, weight creeps up, hair grows where we don’t want it to, and the list goes on.

Some of us take these changes pretty hard and a few can laugh them off. To be honest, I think most of us really have to meet aging challenges head on and decide how we will live in light of them.

Body Exercise 1 – Look in the Mirror

As your first body exercise, please take 2-5 minutes, look yourself in the eyes in a mirror and say, “You are beautiful.” Look deep into your eyes. Breathe. Be still. Feel the emotions that come. Go ahead. I’ll wait… Share your experience in the comments section if you’d like. Other women may need to hear. The truth is… You ARE beautiful!

We all have different priorities when it comes to our appearance. One may have impeccable taste in clothing but “What color lipstick is that?!?” “And why is it on your teeth?”

I hope to cover as many areas dealing with appearance as we all need. Right now for me it’s turkey neck! UGH! My grandmother had one, my mom had one and now I carry on the sad sag. Click here for some free tips and exercises for turkey neck.mirror

Feel free to comment and request an area that you’d like to see covered. I’d love to research it and put it on the site. (and maybe add my own 2 cents)!

Like I said, I just started this site on Valentie’s Day, I’m not retired yet, and there’s so much to do and learn! In the meantime…think about what you would like your life to look like right now. No, seriously! Think about it. Can we give ourselves just a 5-minute think session and ask ourselves, “What would I like my life to look like right now?” Go. I’ll wait…….Please comment below .

Love this site and can’t wait for more. So I just did the “mirror” thing. Since I’ve been laid off work I noticed something I’ve been refusing to accept…my middle has gotten, well, fluffy. My little muffin top is now a Bundt cake? GeeWhiz!

Thank goodness I still love what I see…I just get to see more of it! LOL!

I can’t wait for see what exercises and tips you’ll share.

    Here’s a tip I’d like to share:

One thing I recently started doing – about 3 days ago actually…is exercising on my stairs leading up to my home office. It’s easy and the cost is free. Just little things so far; every time I head for the office I have to do 5 pushups using the stairs for support and then I stair step on the bottom step 20X – then I can go up.

Funny…never realized how many times I made the trip upstairs until I started this little test. Whew! I’m tired!

    • Hahahaha! That IS funny and what a brilliant way to get some exercise in! I can totally relate to the Bundt cake (hilarious). Wine is good but it sticks:( Even though I walk over 7 miles a day carrying mail, I lack in aerobics. I’m afraid to get my heartrate up for some reason… Anyway, you have a great writing style Sheila and such a comedienne! I look forward to your visits…

    Hey Robin,
I love your website and this post actually made reflect on my life – who I am and what I wanted to achieve back then and will I have enough time to reach my goal before 50.

Its inspiring to see how strong you are to start your own online business, I’m the type of person who gives up easily especially when I couldn’t achieve my goals. Maybe I’m a little vain but I too feel like looking at the mirror sometimes to compliment myself, it actually works. Thanks for writing this, god bless

Good luck with all your goals Riaz! Looking in the mirror isn’t always a pleasant experience for some. It is important to love ourselves to thrive in this world. Looks like you don’t have problem there! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Robin

Although I am not 50, I am 35 this year I am noticing a difference already. A few grey hairs, slow metabolism. As a woman, I feel it is important to feel beautiful and attractive. Getting older is not easy for us women. It doesn’t seem to bother men as much. I will be looking in the mirror and telling myself I am beautiful. Thank you for this article.
